Titanic was keeled on March 31, 1909 on the Northern Irish shipyard Harland & Wolff. The steamer was equipped with the highest level of elegance and luxury in order to be used in the respected transatlantic line service of the White Star Line. Two years later, on May 31, 1911, Titanic experienced its stacking. With a length of 269.04 m, a width of 28.19 m and a tonnage of 46,329 BRT, it was the largest ship in the world in 1912. Captain Edward John Smith switched from the sister ship Olympic to the Titanic for the maiden voyage. On Wednesday, April 10th, 1912, she opened from Southampton. The Stations Cherbourg (France) and Queenstown (Ireland) were on the way to New York (USA). The crossing was easy until the bell of the outlet sounds at around 11:40 p.m. due to numerous iceberg warnings on Sunday (April 14, 1912). The ship grazes the iceberg on the taxboard side and sinks into the icy floods of the Atlantic after two hours and forty minutes. Only 712 people survived the disaster.
