The atomic driven enterprise is the first aircraft carrier of this kind and is one of the largest ship objects ever built. This gigantic aircraft carrier was put into service on November 25, 1961. Eight water -cooled reactors create a total output of 300,000 hp, with which the ship reaches an average speed of 35 knots. The water displacement is 75,700 tons and the flight deck has a width of 76.8 meters. 414 officers and 4,260 crew members are on average on board. Since the Enterprise is independent of external care due to the nuclear drive, large fuel deposits are available for the boarding aircraft. The largest and most modern aircraft of the U.S.-navy can be used from the Enterprise.
