TheOshkosh M-ATVis anMine Resistant Ambush Protected(MRAP) vehicle developed by theOshkosh CorporationofOshkosh,Wisconsinfor the MRAP All Terrain Vehicle (M-ATV) program. It is designed to provide the same levels of protection as the larger and heavier previous MRAPs but with improved mobility and it is intended to replaceM1114 HMMWVs.
The M-ATV utilizes theMedium Tactical Vehicle Replacement(MTVR) chassis and TAK-4 suspension with thePlasandesigned armored hull developed for theNorthrop Grumman/Oshkosh JLTV Technology Development (TD) phase proposal. The V-shaped Plasan armored hull offers protection for the occupants fromIEDattacks while a central tire inflation system (CTIS) andrun-flat insertsallow the M-ATV to travel at least 30miles at 30mph even if two tires lose pressure. The vehicle can also take a7.62 mmround to its engine oil/coolant/hydraulic system and continue to drive for at least one kilometer. The Stat-X engine fire suppression system provides for further survivability.
