AI Description:
Tamiya is a well-known company that produces a range of hobby products, including model kits and tools. However, based on the information provided, it seems there might be a misunderstanding or a mix-up in the details. Tamiya does produce masking solutions and fluids that are used for model building and painting, but the product number "87229" might be specific to a certain product in their lineup. Here's some general information that might be helpful:
### Tamiya Masking Fluid
- **Purpose**: Tamiya Masking Fluid is used in the preparation and painting stages of model building. It is applied to areas of a model that you do not want to be painted. Once the paint job is complete, the masking fluid is removed, revealing the unpainted surface beneath.
- **Application**: The fluid can be applied with a brush or a specific applicator, depending on the product design. It is essential for achieving clean lines and preventing paint from bleeding into unwanted areas.
- **Usage**: Commonly used in painting intricate details or when multiple colors are being applied to a model.
### Tamiya Product Identification
- **Product Codes**: Tamiya products typically come with numerical identifiers, like "87229," which help in locating and identifying specific items.
- **Line**: Tamiya has various product lines, including paints, tools, and model kits. Their masking products might come in different formats, such as tapes, sheets, or fluids.
### General Tips for Using Masking Fluid
1. **Test on Scrap**: Always test the masking fluid on a spare piece to understand its drying time and removal process.
2. **Layering**: Apply in thin layers for best results; thick applications may be harder to remove.
3. **Drying Time**: Allow adequate drying time according to the bottle's instructions before painting over it.
4. **Removal**: Ensure the paint is completely dry before removing the masking fluid to avoid smudging.
### Conclusion
For precise information on Tamiya product 87229, I recommend checking the Tamiya official website, a detailed product catalog, or specialized hobby shops. They will provide the most current and specific details about this particular masking fluid or any other product Tamiya offers with that number.
Manufacture's Description:
Masking No.229
This special light green fluid can be used to mask off areas that tape would struggle on – including complex or curved shapes and difficult surface finishes. It can be applied directly from the bottle, and minimal dripping makes for a clean, precise job. Can be used with Tamiya Color paint products. Bottle weight: 20g.
Directions for Use
1. Wipe oil from target surface with detergent.
2. Apply directly from bottle and allow to dry completely.
3. Cut off of area to be painted and remove other unnecessary sections, then paint.
4. Remove masking fluid after topcoat has dried completely.
Apply masking fluid after base coat has dried completely. Apply a thin layer. (It takes about 30 minutes to dry.) Thicker layers take time to dry. Use a new modeling knife blade when cutting off dried masking fluid. Hold down any edges of the dried fluid that have space beneath. This fluid is water-based. Apply over water-based paints with care. Fluid applied on complex surfaces may be difficult to remove. Handle bottle gently to avoid unintentional leakages. If nozzle is clogged, remove and clean it off.
